On Friday, 17 July 2026, a Qatar Airways Cargo Boeing 777 freighter landed at Katowice Airport for the first time. The flight marked the launch of a regular cargo service between Doha and Katowice.

The Boeing 777F operating this route is the world’s largest twin-engine freighter currently in service and has the highest payload capacity. It can carry more than 100 tonnes of cargo on a single flight.

B777 cargo flights will operate twice a week according to the following rotations:

  • Once a week: Doha – Katowice – Doha
  • Once a week: Doha – Budapest – Katowice – Doha

At this stage, operations are scheduled to continue until the end of the Summer 2026 timetable season, which ends on 24 October 2026.

The launch of Qatar Airways Cargo operations demonstrates Katowice Airport’s ability to handle the largest wide-body freighters and airlines that maintain the highest standards of reliability, safety and cargo-handling quality. The new route gives companies and logistics operators in Poland and Central Europe direct access to Qatar Airways Cargo’s global transport network via its hub in Doha.

In the first half of 2026, the Katowice Airport cargo terminal handled 28,356 tonnes of freight. This represents an increase of 6,402 tonnes, or 29%, compared with the same period last year. The launch of regular Qatar Airways Cargo operations provides further support for forecasts that Katowice Airport will achieve a record cargo result for the whole of 2026.
